Governor Pamela Baricuatro expressed her deep appreciation for Cebu’s “nutrition frontliners” during the 11th Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Summit held this morning, September 26, at the Cordova Sports and Cultural Center.

The one-day gathering brought together more than 2,500 members of the Cebu Provincial Barangay Nutrition Scholars Association under the theme, “Intereact: Ang Giyang Prinsipyo sa Matag BNS, Alang sa Tiunay nga Serbisyong Pang-Nutrisyon.”
In her speech, Governor Baricuatro lauded the dedication of the BNS in carrying out grassroots nutrition programs and their vital role in shaping healthier communities.
“Kamo ang frontliners sa nutrition. You are the reason why mothers learn how to prepare healthier meals, why children are given a better chance to grow strong, and why families are reminded that health is the first foundation of life,” she said.
The governor also announced that this Christmas, BNS will receive an increased allowance in cash—not through QR-coded cards—along with Christmas goodies and uniforms. She likewise gave ₱30,000 from her personal funds for the raffle during the summit.
“You are the ones who go to the sitios, manuktok sa mga balay, ug magpahimangno sa mga pamilya sa maayong panglawas sa ilang mga anak. You are the ones who turn programs into real action, ug mao kana ang tinuod nga serbisyo,” she added.
Also in attendance were Cordova Vice Mayor Victor Tago and Sixth District Congresswoman Daphne A. Lagon.
