Minglanilla drainage projects

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro has approved the implementation of two drainage outfall projects in Barangay Calajo-an, Minglanilla drainage projects address the town’s recurring flooding problem.

Gov Baricuatro gave the go-signal following the request of Minglanilla Mayor Rajiv Enad, who visited the governor at the Capitol on Wednesday, September 10, to push for the projects.

According to the proposal of the local government of Minglanilla, which Enad personally presented to the governor, the two drainage outfall projects include a P44.3-million project stretching from Estoy Vulcanizing Shop to Baybayon, and a P16.7million project covering the Skina TESDA to Baybayon route, or a total of P61 million.

“Kining problema nato sa duha ka dalan, diin maabot taga hawak ang baha, ako nang gipaabot sa Kapitolyo niadto pang 2023. Gipasaligan ta nga trabahoon ug gisigehan nato’g follow up, pero wala gyud maatiman,” Enad said, in an earlier statement.

With the approval of the projects, Enad thanked Gov. Baricuatro and the Cebu Provincial Government for supporting and providing funds for the projects

The governor recognized the urgency of the intervention, noting that floodwaters in Barangay Calajo-an often rise to waist-deep levels during heavy rains. Aside from affecting residents, the flooding also leaves motorists stranded along the busy national highway. | 𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
