TOLEDO CITY – A remarkable milestone of life and legacy was celebrated as the Cebu Provincial Government, under the leadership of People’s Governor Pamela Baricuatro, recognized Emigdio S. Hernan, a resident of Toledo City, for reaching the age of 100.
On September 3, Hernan received a ₱100,000 incentive in a ceremonial turnover held at his home in Barangay Cantabaco, an acknowledgment of his longevity and contributions to his community. The occasion drew family members, local officials, and provincial representatives, who came together to honor a life marked by devotion, resilience, and hard work.

A Life of Simplicity, Devotion, and Healthy Living
Born on May 20, 1925, Hernan, a lifelong farmer, credits his century-long life to family, faith, healthy eating, and positivity.
Hernan credited gratitude and healthy living for his 100 years, staying active and connected with family and community.
Hernan is the patriarch of a large family, blessed with three children—one son and two daughters—and 20 grandchildren. His family described him as a source of wisdom, guidance, and inspiration, whose life serves as a model for younger generations.
Provincial Government’s Recognition of Senior Citizens
The turnover was led by Provincial Board Members Corominas and Lagon, along with Toledo City and barangay officials.
Governor Baricuatro supports senior citizens, especially centenarians, with programs that honor their contributions and legacies.
The ₱100,000 incentive supports the elderly, celebrating their contributions and promoting social welfare and health programs.
Inspiring Future Generations
Hernan’s milestone celebrates diligence, family, and community, inspiring resilience, faith, and meaningful contributions.
The provincial government supports senior citizens with financial aid and recognition, fostering respect and care across Cebu.
For Hernan, the celebration was a deeply moving experience. Surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and local officials, he expressed gratitude for the recognition, sharing that his happiness comes not only from the incentive but also from the love and care of his family and community.
“This recognition reminds me of the blessings I have received in life,” Hernan said. “It is not just about living long but living well, with faith, health, and family by your side.”
Gov. Baricuatro’s recognition of Hernan reflects her commitment to honoring and supporting Cebuanos of all ages.
