New Tents Delivered to Oslob OPD: Boosting Comfort for Patients and Visitors

OSLOB, Cebu – Patients and visitors at the Oslob Out-Patient Department (OPD) can now breathe a little easier, thanks to the delivery of brand-new tents provided by the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO). The replacements, overseen by Officer-in-Charge Maritess Alcos, mark a visible and practical step in the ongoing efforts of Governor Pamela Baricuatro’s administration to improve provincial healthcare facilities.

For months, patients and accompanying family members had to contend with the dilapidated tents outside the OPD, enduring harsh sunlight and unpredictable rains while waiting for medical services. Today, the sight of sturdy, freshly delivered tents brings a welcome relief.

“These may seem like small steps,” said OIC Alcos, “but these improvements make a real difference to the daily experience of patients, especially those who travel from distant barangays just to seek medical attention.”

From Celebration Props to Health Infrastructure

Tents from Cebu’s 456th Founding Anniversary were repurposed for health services, showing resourcefulness and responsiveness.

Tents at Oslob OPD now provide patients, caregivers, and staff with comfortable shelter in any weather.

“This is just the beginning,” Alcos assured, noting that other provincial and district hospitals will soon receive similar upgrades. “We are committed to systematically improving facilities across the province, one step at a time.”

A Visible Sign of Progress

Governor Baricuatro’s administration has repeatedly emphasized that no improvement is too small when it impacts the well-being of Cebuanos. The new tents, though simple, show the provincial government’s commitment to its healthcare promises.

Residents of Oslob expressed gratitude for the initiative. One patient, who had been waiting under the old, tattered tent, shared, “It may seem simple, but it makes a huge difference. Now, at least we’re protected from the sun and rain while waiting for our turn.”

Strengthening the Health System, Step by Step

The new tents support Capitol’s P650M health upgrades, medical missions, and infirmary improvements to Level 1 and 2.

Dr. Nikki Catalan, Capitol Piso Health Consultant, previously highlighted the administration’s holistic approach: “Small, visible improvements like these tents reflect the same commitment we have to larger projects. Every patient who benefits reminds us why this work is crucial.”

The initiative shows proactive governance by repurposing tents from celebrations into vital healthcare support, reflecting ingenuity and fiscal responsibility.
