The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has approved on third and final reading the proposed 2026 Childrenβs Code of the Province of Cebu during its Regular Session on Monday, August 17. This is in line with the provinceβs continued efforts to strengthen child protection systems and ensure that every child in Cebu is given the opportunity to grow in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.
Authored by PB Member Lakambini βNenethβ Reluya, the ordinance establishes a comprehensive framework to protect and promote the rights, welfare, and development of children across the province.
The Code upholds childrenβs rights to survival, development, protection, and participation, while strengthening measures against abuse, neglect, exploitation, trafficking, child labor, discrimination, online abuse, and other threats to their safety and well-being.
It also outlines the responsibilities of parents, communities, schools, local government units, and other stakeholders in creating safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environments.
The ordinance also strengthens reporting and case management mechanisms, support for children in need of special protection, and juvenile justice and welfare interventions, with the best interests of the child as the guiding principle.
Once enacted, the Code will serve as a unified policy framework for child protection programs and services throughout the Province of Cebu. /πͺπ¨π·π°π»πΆπ³ π·π°πΆ, ππππ π·πππππ
