The Cebu Provincial Government promoted or regularized 118 healthcare workers on Monday, including an employee who waited 18 years to secure a permanent position.
Among them was 49-year-old Rubylyn Dumdum, who served as the sole cook at the Cebu Provincial Hospital-Balamban.
The workers took their oath during a mass ceremony at Cebu Provincial Hospital-Balamban, the first held at the hospital since it opened 41 years ago.
“I became emotional witnessing the mass oath-taking. Sa Bisaya pa, makapanimbawot og balhibo,” said Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan.
Catalan has been tasked by Gov. Pamela Baricuatro to oversee the upgrades and improvements of the 16 Capitol-run hospitals.
“This is lasting change, all in the service of the Cebuanos,” Catalan added.
Increasing the workforce of the 16 Capitol-run hospitals and regularizing employees who have been in service for many years are part of Gov. Baricuatro’s reforms.
The 118 personnel include nurses, doctors, medical specialists, medical technologists, radiologic technologists, pharmacists, midwives, laboratory aides, respiratory therapists and administrative and support staff.
