The Cebu Provincial Government is exploring potential areas of collaboration with the United Kingdom in education, basic infrastructure, and other key sectors as British Embassy Manila Political Counsellor Andrew Bowes paid a courtesy visit to Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro at the Provincial Capitol on Thursday, August 13.
The meeting focused on identifying opportunities for UK companies to contribute to Cebu’s development, particularly through partnerships with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Education was identified as one potential area for collaboration, with Bowes discussing opportunities for UK companies to support English language education through artificial intelligence.
Gov. Baricuatro, in turn, shared the province’s plans to develop smart classrooms that integrate technology and innovation into education.
Other areas discussed include water, energy, waste management, gas exploration, trade, and manufacturing, particularly the furniture industry.
Gov. Baricuatro also shared Cebu’s plans for a proposed subway and the regional efforts to develop a bridge connecting Cebu and Bohol.
