Organizers of the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Federation (EATOF) from South Korea paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Pamela Baricuatro on Thursday, Aug. 13, ahead of the federation’s 2026 general assembly in Cebu in September.
Cebu Province is set to host the biennial gathering at the Mactan Expo, where delegates from EATOF member regions will discuss tourism policies, strategic initiatives and programs to strengthen interregional cooperation.
Gov. Baricuatro expressed full support for the gathering and invited the Korean delegates to explore more of Cebu when they return for the assembly, citing the province’s tourism destinations, culture and local experiences.
She also floated the idea of establishing a Koreatown in Cebu to serve the province’s Korean community, estimated at around 20,000.
The assembly is expected to further boost Cebu’s profile as a regional tourism hub, following its hosting of activities of the ASEAN Tourism Forum earlier this year.
