𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro welcomed newly appointed Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Chief Jail Director Efren Altamira Nemeño during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Grounds on Monday, Aug. 10.
Nemeño, who hails from Barili, joined Governor Baricuatro, Provincial Board members, department heads, and employees during the ceremony following his appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the new head of the BJMP last month, making him the first Cebuano to lead the BJMP. BJMP 7 Director Jail Chief Supt. Luisito C. Muñoz and Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Faith Econg also attended the ceremony.
Nemeño succeeded Chief Jail Director Ruel Rivera, who retired from service.
A seasoned BJMP officer, Nemeño previously served as Cebu City Jail warden and later headed several regional offices as regional director. Before assuming the bureau’s top post, he was appointed Deputy Chief for Operations on July 17, 2023, overseeing the BJMP’s frontline security and rehabilitation programs. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝒀𝑱𝑩, 𝑭𝑬, 𝑨𝑹𝑱
