𝐏𝐇𝐎 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐒 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐁𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐅𝐅, 𝐕𝐎𝐖𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒
Provincial Health Office (PHO) officials met with doctors, nurses and other personnel of Badian District Hospital in an open forum following recent concerns involving the facility, saying the provincial government remains committed to improving healthcare services.
PHO Chief Dr. Sheila Shy Faciol, along with Dr. Jen Canoy and Dr. Miguel Rebalde, visited the hospital to hear firsthand the concerns of medical and nonmedical staff, including challenges in patient care, communication and areas needing government support.
Faciol said the discussion pointed to the need for better communication between hospital staff and patients.
Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan said healthcare extends beyond equipment, medicines and staffing, stressing that the quality of care is measured not only by facilities and manpower but also by how patients are treated.
“Sometimes a patient may not remember every detail of the treatment they received, but they will remember whether they felt heard, respected, reassured, and cared for,” Catalan said.
Catalan has been tasked by the governor to oversee the health reforms under her administration.
“Even on difficult and busy days, we want our hospitals to foster a culture of service—one that delivers care with competence, urgency, empathy and, whenever possible, a smile,” Catalan added.
The PHO said issues raised during the dialogue would be reviewed as part of continuing efforts to improve services at Capitol-run hospitals, adding that reforms will continue “hospital by hospital, concern by concern, one step at a time.”
