𝐁𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑, 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 ‘𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐎 𝐒𝐀 𝐊𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐘𝐎 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔’ 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐔 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐋
The Cebu Provincial Government showcased the province’s rich agricultural and food production capacity by bringing together the local products and delicacies of its cities and municipalities in one venue through the opening of this year’s “Tabo sa Kapitolyo: Agri-Fisheries Trade Fair.”
The annual trade fair is one of the highlights of Cebu Province’s 457th founding anniversary celebration this August and forms part of the Capitol’s continuing efforts to strengthen market access for local farmers, fisherfolk, and microentrepreneurs while promoting Cebu-made products.
Governor Pamela Baricuatro led Cebu’s top officials in opening the weeklong event at the spacious Parking Lot 1 beside the Heritage Park inside the Capitol Compound on August 3.
“Ingon sa mga mayors, nindot kuno kaayo ni, the best so far, ingon sila,” Gov. Baricuatro told the media in an interview.
“Ganahan sila nga naa didto sa parking area (ang tabo) ug nindot kaayo ang mga booths, grabe ka bongga ang different municipalities,” she added.
Previous trade fairs were held at the back portion of the executive building, where space constraint was a challenge.
This year’s trade fair features products and delicacies from Cebu’s six component cities and 44 municipalities, as well as the highly urbanized cities of Cebu and Mandaue. Sixteen private exhibitors are also displaying their products, bringing the total number of exhibitors to 68, according to Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Roldan Saragena.
Joining the governor during the opening were Vice Gov. Glenn Soco, Fourth District Rep. Sun Shimura, members of the Provincial Board, and League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Cebu Chapter President and Cordova Mayor Cesar Suan, who represented the province’s mayors.
The officials visited the exhibitors’ booths, where they were welcomed by local chief executives and exhibitors.
“I would like to urge the public nga please visit diri sa Capitol Grounds ang atoang agri-fair. Nindot kaayog mga products, I can assure you that,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
Saragena said the trade fair will run until Sunday, August 9, and will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (See separate post for featured products and local delicacies)
