The Cebu Provincial Government on Wednesday distributed more than P5 million in cash assistance and rice to 1,675 habal-habal drivers in Minglanilla, while also turning over farm machinery and veterinary supplies to support the town’s agricultural sector.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro led the distribution alongside Acting Mayor Leshlen Abella-Enad, Acting Vice Mayor Joe Romulus “Mulot” Laput, and First District Board Members Lakambini Reluya and Antonio D. Bacaltos Jr.

A total of P5.025 million was released, with each beneficiary receiving P3,000 in cash and 10 kilograms of rice.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Gov. Baricuatro assured residents that the Capitol would continue responding to the needs of Cebuanos.

The governor also urged them to remain grateful and united, saying communities become stronger when people support one another.

Enad thanked Gov. Baricuatro for extending assistance to habal-habal drivers, as fuel prices have risen anew following the resumption of the conflict in the Middle East.

“Gov. Pam, if you take care of our habal-habal drivers, you also take care of the people they serve,” Enad said.

Aside from the financial assistance, the Capitol turned over walking-type tractors, with rotary tillers and crop seedlings to farmers’ organizations. The Provincial Veterinary Office also distributed vitamins, antibiotics and deworming medicines for livestock.
