PORO, Camotes Islands — Residents of Sitio Matin-aw in Barangay Libertad will soon have a multi-purpose covered court after Gov. Pamela Baricuatro led the groundbreaking ceremony for the P4.6 million project on Sunday, July 19.
The facility, which is expected to be completed in about three months, will serve as an evacuation center as well as a venue for sports, school, and community activities.
Gov. Baricuatro led the capsule-laying and groundbreaking rites together with Provincial Administrator Atty. Ace Durano, former congressman Red Durano, and barangay officials headed by Barangay Captain Eric Sancober.
Addressing residents, the governor assured them that the provincial government remains committed to responding the community’s needs.
“Your dream will now become a reality in the next few months,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
Sancober thanked the provincial government for bringing the project to the village, saying the facility would provide residents with a safer evacuation site during typhoons.
“Kung naay bagyo, modagan gyud ang mga residents ngadto sa mga eskwelahan sa lungsod sa Poro. Kung naa na ning multi-purpose court diri sa Sitio Matin-aw, pwede na gyud ni kabakwitan, mao ng importante gyud,” he said.
