PORO, Camotes Island — Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro on Sunday, July 19, led the groundbreaking for a P3.639-million People’s Hall in Barangay Eastern Poblacion, a project funded by the Cebu Provincial Government.
Barangay Captain Cleo Barrientos Paranas thanked the governor and the Capitol for funding the project.
“Sa panahon ni Gov. Pam, kabalo ko unsa siya ka-busy, pero nahuna-hunaan gihapon niya nga tagaan gyud ta aning People’s Hall,” Paranas said.
She said the barangay hall, which has stood for nearly 40 years, sustained structural damage from past earthquakes and typhoons, making a new building necessary.
With the new building, residents are expected to have better access to government services through a more functional venue for official transactions and community activities.
Also present during the ceremony were Provincial Administrator Atty. Ace Durano, former Fifth District Rep. Red Durano, Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora, Dr. Janos Vizcayno Jr., and municipal and barangay officials.
