‘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐔’ 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓’𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐇 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐄, 𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐃𝐒
Celebrating the unique culinary heritage and local craftsmanship of southern Cebu, the Cebu Provincial Government officially showcased the first district’s local micro-enterprises under the banner of the “Our Cebu” program. Anchored on the theme, “Lasa ug Produkto: Garbo sa Primero Distrito” (Flavor and Products: Pride of the First District), the initiative highlights how grassroots industries drive both the local economy and cultural pride.
The gathering brought together key provincial and local officials, led by Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro and Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco. Also in attendance to show their support for the district’s local producers were First District Provincial Board Members Antonio Bacaltos Jr. and Lakambini “Neneth” Reluya, alongside city mayors, vice mayors, and councilors from the component cities under the first district.
In her keynote address, Governor Baricuatro championed the continuity of grassroots programs that directly empower local communities. She then asked the crowd, “Why change something that works?” She emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to sustaining these effective livelihood initiatives. She said that showcasing local craftsmanship directly helps put food on the tables of local families by creating sustainable, home-grown jobs.
The governor said that the true catalyst behind Cebu’s economic resilience is not just its physical resources, but the craftsmanship and determination of its citizens.
“The heart and soul of Cebu, its strength, lies in its people,” Governor Baricuatro said. “We celebrate not only the product or destination but also a collective journey of our people.”
She assured local producers that the provincial government remains dedicated to elevating grassroots industries.
