𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐒 𝟑𝟑𝐑𝐃 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐗-𝐑𝐀𝐘 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓, 𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓
The 33rd founding anniversary of the Pinamungajan District Hospital was marked by the launch of two major Capitol-funded projects that strengthen healthcare delivery and environmental compliance, as the Capitol continues to invest in modernizing its district and provincial hospitals.
On Thursday, July 17, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro joined hospital officials led by chief Dr. Glyla Mae Galban in breaking ground for the hospital’s P9.1-million eco-friendly sewage treatment plant. Funded by the Capitol, the facility will treat hospital wastewater before it is discharged, helping protect public health and the environment while ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
The governor also led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the inauguration of the hospital’s new Radiology Department, which features a modern stationary digital X-ray machine worth P5 million purchased by the Capitol.
“Nindot kaayo siya nga anniversary namo kay napakita namo nga daghan ug dako kaayo ang improvement sa atoang institution,” Dr. Galban told the media in an interview.
FIRST AFTER 33 YEARS
Capitol public health consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan said both projects are firsts in the hospital’s 33-year history.
“Sila ang naay pinaka high-tech nga X-Ray sa tanang 16 hospitals at the moment kay sila ang latest nga delivery,” Dr. Catalan said.
Although the hospital has had an X-ray room since it opened in 1993, it had never operated its own X-ray machine. With the procurement, the Capitol also completed the staffing and regulatory requirements, including the hiring of radiologic technologists and securing the facility’s license to operate.
“Dako siyag tabang sa atong mga pasyente, labi nag kinahanglanon gyud nila. Dili na sila moadtog mga private nga diagnostics sa Toledo City nga medyo layo pod diri,” Dr. Galban said.
IMPROVED WORKFORCE
The hospital chief also cited the expansion of the hospital’s workforce from just over 60 employees during the previous administration to 106 personnel under Gov. Baricuatro, thereby enabling longer service hours and improved patient care.
Other ongoing improvements include the construction of a hazardous waste building, repairs to Hospital Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8, repainting of hospital facilities and the perimeter fence, and the construction of an ambulance parking and maintenance building.
