𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺
Three more Capitol-run hospitals have received modern laparoscopy tower systems as the Cebu Provincial Government expands access to minimally invasive surgery in the province.
Following the first delivery to Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH)-Danao, new Mindray laparoscopy tower systems were turned over on Wednesday to CPH-Balamban, CPH-Bogo, and Minglanilla District Hospital. More units are expected to be delivered to other Capitol-run hospitals in the coming weeks.
“In the service of our patients, the goal is simple: no patient should have to travel far for quality healthcare whenever the service can be safely and sustainably provided closer to their community,” Capitol Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan said.
Catalan has been tasked by Gov. Pamela Baricuatro to lead the implementation of the provincial government’s healthcare reforms.
Earlier, the Provincial Health Office said six hospitals with existing surgical teams were identified as the initial recipients of the equipment: CPH-Danao, CPH-Balamban, CPH-Bogo, CPH-Carcar, Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital in Camotes, and Bantayan District Hospital.
The hospitals already have general surgeons and anesthesiologists, allowing them to immediately expand their surgical services.

“As we continue to invest in newer equipment and strengthen the capabilities of our provincial hospitals, we also invite private surgeons and specialists who may wish to serve in our hospitals, even on a part-time basis,” Catalan said.
Meanwhile, Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao is also slated to receive laparoscopy equipment as part of preparations for its upgrade to Level 1 hospital.
A laparoscopy system is used in minimally invasive surgery, giving surgeons high-definition visualization during operations. For patients, the procedure may mean smaller incisions, less postoperative pain and blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery.
