A new chapter for entertainment, tourism, and business in Cebu began Thursday, July 9, as the 25,000-seat SM Seaside Cebu Arena officially opened.
Representing Gov. Pamela Baricuatro at the inauguration was Capitol Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, who joined Vice Governor Glenn Soco, Provincial Administrator Ace Durano, and officials of SM Prime Holdings for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
One of the country’s largest indoor arenas, the facility is expected to strengthen Cebu’s position as a premier destination for international concerts, sporting events, conventions, exhibitions, and other large-scale gatherings.
The world-class venue is also eyed to attract more local and international visitors, creating opportunities for businesses, generating employment and stimulating growth across various sectors.
On behalf of the Provincial Government, Catalan thanked SM Prime Holdings for its continued investment and confidence in Cebu.
She also expressed appreciation to SM Prime President Jeffrey Sy Lim, Executive Committee Chairman Hans Sy, and the SM Prime team for their warm hospitality.
The provincial government views the completion of the SM Seaside Cebu Arena as another significant step in Cebu’s continuing development, reflecting the province’s readiness to host major international events and reinforcing its position as a leading destination for tourism, business, and investment.
