The Cebu Provincial Government is preparing a series of surgical missions in August and September in partnership with private hospitals and volunteer doctors as part of the province’s founding anniversary celebration.
Capitol Public Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan on Wednesday, July 8, led a coordination meeting with the Chong Hua Hospital team headed by COO Dr. Joanne Cosin, Dr. Elmer Po, Cebu Medical Society President Dr. Ella Phyllis Cabahug Lim, local government partners, municipal health officers, and Board Member Mike Villamor.
The meeting focused on ensuring that surgical procedures are performed safely by identifying qualified patients, assembling the appropriate medical teams, and putting in place the necessary support systems for the missions.
Participants also discussed the strict implementation of patient screening and case finding, pre-operative evaluation and testing, careful patient selection, post-operative care, and follow-up consultations.
Catalan thanked the participating hospitals, physicians, and local government partners for working together to ensure that the surgical missions are carefully planned and safely carried out for beneficiary patients.
