𝗣𝗗𝗗𝗥𝗠𝗢 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗚𝗨𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is closely monitoring air quality after ashfall from the Kanlaon Volcano eruption reached several parts of Cebu, prompting the suspension of classes in a number of local government units.
PDRRMO chief Ret. Col. Dennis Francis Pastor said volcanic ash was carried by easterly to northeasterly winds, affecting Toledo City and the Municipalities of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan. Cebu City and other parts of the province were also covered by ashfall.
He said the provincial government has already deployed assessment teams to affected areas and sent food supplies and 500 N95 face masks, with another 6,000 masks set for distribution in localities experiencing the heaviest ashfall.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro has directed the PDRRMO early this morning to closely monitor the effects of the eruption and coordinate with local government units and concerned agencies to ensure a timely response.

Residents were advised to wear face masks, stay indoors as much as possible, and avoid unnecessary travel as ashfall could reduce road visibility.
Pastor also urged the public to rely only on verified information and to carefully remove ash from rooftops, warning that accumulated wet ash could become heavy enough to damage structures.
As of this writing, classes have been suspended in Toledo City, Balamban, Talisay City, Cebu City, Minglanilla, Pinamungahan, Consolacion, Aloguinsan, Mandaue City, Cordova, Liloan, Asturias, Naga City, Sogod, Compostela, Carcar City, San Fernando, Santa Fe, Argao and Dumanjug. The provincial government continues to coordinate with concerned agencies and LGUs to ensure the safety of Cebuanos while closely monitoring developments related to the volcanic eruption.
