The Cebu Provincial Government continues to improve healthcare services across the province as the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in the municipality of Argao underwent a Level 1 hospital inspection by the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
The inspection marks a significant step toward the hospital’s goal of securing a Level 1 license, which would enable it to provide expanded essential hospital services for the people of Argao and neighboring municipalities.
The upgrade and modernization of the 16 Capitol-run hospitals are among the top priorities of the administration of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, with Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan overseeing the reforms.
A team from the DOH conducted a comprehensive assessment of the hospital’s facilities, equipment, operations, and compliance with national licensing standards. The team also made recommendations to further improve the hospital’s systems, infrastructure, and service delivery in preparation for its final evaluation.
Under DOH standards, a Level 1 hospital is expected to provide essential hospital-based services, including an operating room, recovery room, maternity and delivery facilities, isolation facilities, a dental clinic, a blood station, a secondary clinical laboratory, a Level 1 imaging facility, and a pharmacy.
Once granted its Level 1 license, the upgraded services of Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital are expected to further enhance healthcare accessibility for Argao and surrounding communities, ensuring that more patients can receive quality medical services closer to home.
