The Cebu Provincial Government has delivered two anesthesia machines and an electrocautery machine to the Mariano Jesus Cuenco Memorial Hospital in Malabuyoc town as part of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro’s continuing efforts to boost healthcare services in Capitol-run hospitals.
Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Elisse Nicole Catalan said the new medical equipment will strengthen the hospital’s surgical capability as it prepares for its upgrade to a Level 1 facility. Catalan has been tasked by the governor to oversee the modernization and upgrade of the four district and 12 provincial hospitals managed by the Capitol.
Catalan added the anesthesia machines ensure patient safety during surgical procedures, while the electrocautery machine helps control bleeding.

Gov. Baricuatro earlier ordered the faster procurement and delivery of medical equipment to address the growing number of patients seeking treatment at Capitol-run hospitals.
The surge in patient turnout reflects the restored trust and confidence of the public in the Province’s healthcare system during her first year in office.
On June 15, Gov. Baricuatro and Malabuyoc Mayor Erlinda Piedad signed a Deed of Usufruct allowing the Cebu Provincial Government to upgrade the town’s infirmary into a Level 1 hospital, expanding access to hospital services for residents of southwestern Cebu.
