𝐆𝐎𝐕. 𝐏𝐀𝐌 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝟖 𝐓𝐋𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐔 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐒
Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro led the ceremonial groundbreaking for the construction of Temporary Learning Shelters (TLS) in four southern Cebu municipalities, benefiting schools in Boljoon, Alcoy, Dalaguete, and Argao on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
The project aims to help address the shortage of classrooms while the provincial government continues to improve educational facilities across Cebu.
Under the initiative, three TLS units will be constructed for El Pardo Elementary School in Boljoon. One unit each will also be provided to Bala-as Elementary School and Langtad Elementary School in Argao, Mantalongon Elementary School and Obong Elementary School in Dalaguete, and Pasol-Pugalo Integrated School in Alcoy.
The provincial government has allocated a total of P9,120,882.96 for the project.
In her message, Governor Baricuatro reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by various sectors, particularly in education.
“Ang inyong provincial government naa ra nagpaluyo ninyo, naningkamot unsaon na ma arang-arang ang kahimtang sa atong mga eskwelahan,” the governor said.
Joining Governor Baricuatro during the groundbreaking ceremonies were Dalaguete Mayor Nelin “Bembie” Tambis; Argao Mayor Allan Sesaldo and Vice Mayor Atty. Orvi Ortega; Second District Provincial Board Member Raymond Calderon; Boljoon Councilors Marvin Ian Niere, Merlou Derama, Monit Fedillaga, and Lindzey Romero; Argao Councilor Jag Lucero; Liga ng mga Barangay President Rainier Rumaguera; and DepEd Cebu Provincial Schools Division Superintendent Willy Adonay.
Governor Baricuatro also assured stakeholders that additional funding will be allocated for selected schools that are set to receive two-storey classroom buildings to further address the province’s classroom needs.
