𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐋-𝐇𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐋 𝐃𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐏𝟑𝐊, 𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐋
A total of 528 habal-habal drivers from 15 barangays in the municipality of Aloguinsan received cash assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government during a distribution activity held at the town’s Alodome on Friday, July 3.
Each beneficiary received P3,000 in fuel assistance and 10-kilogram rice through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO), Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Aloguinsan. The beneficiaries also received products distributed by PVO for their pets and livestock.
The beneficiaries came from the barangays of Angilan, Bojo, Bonbon, Esperanza, Kandingan, Kantabogon, Kawasan, Olango, Poblacion, Punay, Rosario, Saksak, Tampaan, Toyokon and Zaragoza.
According to Armene Gay Tapangan, a staff member of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), beneficiaries were selected after submitting the required application forms endorsed by their respective barangay captains. Applicants were also required to present a valid driver’s license and proof of membership in a recognized habal-habal association.
Tapangan said one of the challenges encountered during the selection process was addressing concerns from residents who were not included in the list of beneficiaries.
In his message, Mayor Cesare Ignatius Moreno expressed his gratitude to Gov. Pamela Baricuatro for extending assistance to the town’s habal-habal drivers.
“Karong buntaga ato gyud’ng pasalamatan si Gov. Pam kay iya mong gigahinan og tabang,” Mayor Moreno said.
The mayor also assured residents that the municipal government is exploring ways to provide assistance to drivers who were not included in the provincial government’s program.
“Kami sa munisipyo mag-budget aron makadawat mo ug maangayan gyud mong tanan,” he said.
Mayor Moreno encouraged the beneficiaries to use the financial assistance wisely, including investing in livelihood opportunities such as purchasing livestock.
PSWDO Head Mari Rose Lopez said that while the assistance may be modest, the provincial government hopes it will help ease the beneficiaries’ daily financial burden.
“Dili man kaayo dako ang tabang, pero hinaut namo nga makaabag kini para sa inyoha,” Lopez said.
