Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro on Wednesday announced a P140-million allocation for the province’s feeding program and the deployment of seven mobile kitchens to further strengthen the Capitol’s food security initiatives across Cebu. The mobile kitchens, scheduled for delivery this July, will be mobilized in different parts of the province to support communities and help improve the health and nutrition of Cebuanos.
Governor Baricuatro made the announcement during the Provincial Nutrition Month Launching held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Grounds on July 1.
As part of the program, the governor also led the ceremonial administration of Vitamin A and iron supplements to toddlers. The Provincial Government is set to distribute 600,000 Vitamin A capsules and 300,000 iron supplements to Rural Health Units in all cities and municipalities across Cebu.
“If you ask me what kind of Cebu I dream of, my answer is simple. A Cebu where every family has the opportunity to live a healthy and dignified life. Kay unsaon man nato paghisgut og economic growth, quality education, ug tourism kung ang atong mga katawhan mismo gutom ug walay saktong nutrisyon ang lawas,” the governor said, who turned emotional as she reflected on her first year in office which coincided the Nutrition Month Launch. Gov. Baricuatro emphasized the importance of investing in nutrition as the foundation of development.
Also present during the event was Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, who has been instrumental in advancing the provincial government’s healthcare initiatives.
“Malnutrition is not only a health concern; it is a governance concern. That is why I am grateful that nutrition is not only being seen as a side program but as a priority. So, when Gov. Pam committed to prioritize nutrition, food security, and improved health services, it was a clear recognition that Cebu cannot move forward if our children are left behind. The data on malnutrition in Cebu is not something we can ignore, it should disturb us but more importantly it should move us to act,” she said in her speech.
Carrying the theme “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan,” the event gathered chiefs of hospitals, municipal and city nutrition program coordinators, nutritionist-dieticians, barangay health workers, and barangay nutrition scholars from across the province.
During the program, the Municipality of Dalaguete received a Plaque of Achievement after being recognized as a 2025 National Nutrition Green Banner Seal of Compliance Awardee for its outstanding nutrition practices.
The following provincial and district hospitals were likewise recognized for retaining their Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) status for 2025:

- Cebu Provincial Hospital – Carcar
- Cebu Provincial Hospital – Bogo
- Cebu Provincial Hospital – Balamban
- Badian District Hospital
- Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital
- Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital
- Tuan B. Dosado Memorial Hospital
- Tuburan District Hospital
- Oslob District Hospital
- Bantayan District Hospital
- Jose Ma. Borromeo Memorial Hospital
- Daanbantayan District Hospital
Also recognized were local government units with the lowest stunting prevalence for 2025 based on Operation Timbang Version 1, namely the City Health Office of Bogo City, Borbon Rural Health Unit, Minglanilla Rural Health Unit, San Fernando Rural Health Unit, and the City Health Office of Naga City.
