𝐏𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐂 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝟖𝟖.𝟕-𝐌 𝐏𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐃
The Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) on Monday, June 29, approved the P88.7-million Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Trust Fund Program for 2025 during its council meeting at the Capitol.
The approved trust fund will now be endorsed to the Provincial Board (PB) for deliberation and eventual approval, paving the way for the implementation of disaster risk reduction and management programs and projects across the province.
The meeting was presided over by PDRRMC Chair Governor Pam Baricuatro and attended by Capitol department heads led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Ace Durano, PDRRMO focal person retired Col. Dennis Pastor, and representatives from regional offices, including the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and civil society organization like the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI).
Of the total allocation, P73.7 million is earmarked for disaster preparedness, P6 million for disaster prevention and mitigation, P4 million for disaster response and early recovery, and P5 million for recovery and rehabilitation.
The bulk of the disaster preparedness budget, amounting to P47 million, will fund the procurement of emergency and response vehicles, including a water tanker, mobile command center, response vehicles, and a mobile shower.
Another P15 million is allocated for information technology equipment, communication systems, and digital platforms for the PDRRMO Command Center, while P10 million will be used to procure rescue equipment, protective gear, life detectors, and seismic equipment. An additional P2 million is set aside for an emergency water supply system at the command center.
The P6-million allocation for disaster prevention and mitigation includes P1 million for information, education, and communication campaigns on flood, drought, typhoon, and earthquake risks, and P5 million for capacity development and training programs.
Meanwhile, P4 million is allocated for relief goods, supplies, temporary shelters, and distribution costs for local government units and affected individuals under the disaster response and early recovery component.
Another P5 million is allotted for recovery and rehabilitation projects and activities.
The trust fund will enable the provincial government to invest in disaster preparedness, emergency response capabilities, and post-disaster recovery, strengthening Cebu’s capacity to protect lives, infrastructure, and livelihoods during natural hazards. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑱𝑳𝑷, 𝑨𝑹𝑱
