The Cebu Provincial Government received a new patient transport vehicle (PTV) equipped with medical equipment from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) during a turnover ceremony on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
In her welcome message, Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro expressed gratitude to the national government and the PCSO for providing the province with its second PTV unit, which she said would greatly enhance the transport of patients to medical facilities. The provincial government received its first PTV from the PCSO on Oct. 8, 2025.
“I am especially grateful because, as you know, healthcare has always been my number one priority as governor of Cebu. I firmly believe that no family should have to suffer simply because medical services are too far away or difficult to access,” Baricuatro said.
“A patient transport vehicle is not just a vehicle; it is a lifeline. For a large province like Cebu, where some communities are located far from hospitals and healthcare facilities, every kilometer and every minute make a difference in saving lives and ensuring timely medical care,” she added.
The governor assured the public that the new PTV would be used with great care and purpose in serving the people of Cebu.
Aside from the vehicle turnover, Cebu Province also received P694,180.45 as its share from PCSO lotto sales. The amount forms part of the agency’s continuing commitment to support local government units through its charity and healthcare programs.
The vehicle received by the Capitol was among 18 PTVs turned over by the PCSO to 10 provinces across Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas and the Negros Island Region. The initiative was made possible through the PCSO’s Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP), which aims to strengthen local healthcare systems and improve emergency medical response capabilities in cities and municipalities.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to assisting local government units in transporting patients, particularly those living in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
“This occasion reflects the continuing commitment of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office to ensure that the revenues generated from our gaming operations are transformed into programs that directly benefit our fellow Filipinos,” Robles said. /CAPITOL PIO, Photos by ARJ, YJB
