𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐋 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐒 ₱𝟖𝐌 𝐈𝐍 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝟑 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐓𝐎𝐖𝐍𝐒
The Cebu Provincial Government on Thursday, June 18, distributed nearly ₱8 million in financial assistance to families in three northern towns affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake last year.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro led the distribution in the town of Tabuelan, one of the areas hit by the quake. Similar payout activities were also held in Sogod and Catmon.
In Tabuelan, 706 households from 12 barangays received ₱10,000 each and 10 kilos of rice. The rice assistance was provided by the national government.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Gov. Baricuatro said her administration remains focused on programs and initiatives that benefit Cebuanos rather than politics.
“Akong ipahibalo kaninyo nga ang provincial government naa ra gyud kanunay nagpaluyo kaninyo…Wala lang sa tay kolor-kolor sa politika karon. Ang importante makatabang ko ninyo,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
Acknowledging the hardships many families continue to face, Gov. Baricuatro expressed hope that the assistance would help ease their burden.
Joining the governor during the distribution were Congressman Sun Shimura, Provincial Board Members Kierre Shimura, Nelson Mondigo, and Tining Martinez, Tabuelan Mayor Rex Casiano Gerona, Vice Mayor Dr. Rose Marie “Day Rose” Gerona-Suezo, and members of the municipal council.
Another 82 beneficiaries in Sogod and Catmon also received cash assistance under the province’s relief program.
Aside from the financial aid, the Capitol also distributed livestock and agri-fishery inputs to farmers and fisherfolk. (See separate story)/CAPITOL PIO, Photos by YJB & FE
