𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀
The Cebu Provincial Government on Monday signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with local government units and partner establishments for the Clean Toilet Stop Partnership Program, an initiative that will provide tourists and travelers with access to clean and safe restroom facilities across Cebu.
Under the program, public and private establishments will be accredited as designated toilet stops along major tourism and transportation routes.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro said tourism should be judged not only by the number of visitors a destination attracts but also by the experience it offers.
“Many may see this as a simple matter, but in tourism, small details leave lasting impressions. A clean toilet enhances the visitor experience, promotes public health, and strengthens Cebu’s reputation as a premier tourism destination,” Gov. Baricuatro said in her message.
“As governor, I believe that tourism is not measured only by the number of visitors we receive. It is measured by the quality of experiences we provide. It is measured by how comfortable, safe, and welcomed our guests feel while exploring our province,” she added.
Among the establishments joining the program are gas stations, bus terminals and stops, boardwalks, public plazas, public markets, and other facilities located throughout Cebu Province.
The governor thanked business owners, managers, and local chief executives who agreed to take part in the initiative, describing tourism development as a shared responsibility among all sectors.
Participating local government units include Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Bogo City, Carmen, Compostela, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Oslob, Argao, Sibonga, Naga City, Barili, Aloguinsan, Toledo City, Balamban, and Cebu City.
Provincial Tourism Officer Rowena Lu Y. Montecillo said participating establishments were inspected and validated to ensure they met the standards set under the Clean Toilet Stop Partnership Program.
“Thank you for embracing this partnership,” Montecillo said.
Representatives of partner establishments, local government units, and Capitol executives also attended the MOA signing.
