𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Gov. Pam Baricuatro welcomed IKEA Philippines Country Retail Manager Ricardo Pinheiro and his team to the Cebu Provincial Capitol during a courtesy visit on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Pinheiro was in Cebu to announce the upcoming opening of IKEA’s first store in the Visayas. The Swedish home furnishings retailer will occupy approximately 4,000 square meters of space at the soon-to-open Ayala Malls Gatewalk in Mandaue City.
Pinheiro said that opening a store in Cebu marks an important milestone for IKEA as it expands its presence in the Philippines.
Gov. Baricuatro expressed her gratitude to IKEA, saying that the investment will create more employment and economic opportunities for the Cebuano workforce.
Gov. Baricuatro also emphasized that Cebu remains one of the country’s premier furniture-making hubs, with local manufacturers, artisans, and exporters continuing to be a major driver of the province’s economy.
