Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro congratulated the graduates of the Cebu Normal University–Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (CNU-VSMMC) College of Medicine during their Investiture and Commencement Exercises held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The 32 members of Batch Syncytium comprise the second batch of graduates to earn their Doctor of Medicine degree from the CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine.
Serving as guest of honor, Gov. Baricuatro commended the graduates for their dedication and perseverance as they take a significant step toward joining the medical profession. She emphasized the vital role of healthcare workers, particularly in responding to the challenges brought by recent calamities that affected Cebu.
“You are not just graduates, you are future healers. And what a time to enter the profession. The past years have reminded us how important healthcare workers are to society,” the governor said.
Gov. Baricuatro likewise underscored her administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services across the province through investments in provincial hospitals, expanded access to medical services, the deployment of healthcare workers, and initiatives that bring healthcare closer to underserved communities.
“Healthcare is only as strong as the people who choose to serve,” she added.
Earlier this year, the Cebu Provincial Government signed a memorandum of agreement with CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine to establish a scholarship program that will cover the cost of medical education for qualified scholars from across Cebu Province.
