Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro joined the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) on Monday, June 8, in a distribution and turnover ceremony that secured land ownership for hundreds of farmers and condoned more than P30 million in agrarian debts across Central Visayas.

Addressing agrarian reform beneficiaries at the Enan Chiong Activity Center, Gov. Baricuatro reaffirmed the provincial government’s support for rural development in line with the agrarian reform program’s vision of “Sariling Lupa para sa Bagong Bukas na Masagana.”

“Dili lang ni pagpanghatag og papel today. It is recognizing the hard work and sacrifices of our farmers and ensuring they receive the support they truly deserve,” Gov. Baricuatro said.

During the event, DAR distributed 736 electronic titles under Project SPLIT to 463 agrarian reform beneficiaries from the Cebu towns of Sogod, Carmen, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tuburan, Argao, and Tabogon, strengthening their land tenure security.

A total of 1,758 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Cebu and Bohol were freed from P30.44 million in unpaid land amortizations and mortgage obligations through the distribution of 2,816 Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (CoCRoM).

Gov. Baricuatro shared the stage with Undersecretary Lani C. De Leon, City of Naga Mayor Valdemar “Val” M. Chiong, and First District Congresswoman Rhea Mae A. Gullas during the turnover ceremony, which also featured the distribution of farm machinery and equipment funded through the Agrarian Reform Fund.

Among the recipients were the Dakit-Tubod Farmers Association in Barili, which received a tractor worth P1.025 million, and the Anapog Mountain and Spring Farm Association in Pinamungajan, which received an Isuzu delivery truck valued at P1.45 million.

DAR said the assistance is part of its efforts to improve farm productivity, strengthen market access, and support the long-term development of agrarian reform communities in the region.

Also present during the event were DAR regional officials, including Regional Director Melvin Castor V. Silvestre and PARPO II Christian Louis G. Luna.
