More earthquake-affected families in northern Cebu received assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government as Gov. Pamela Baricuatro personally led the distribution of calamity aid in the municipalities of Tabogon and Borbon on Thursday, June 4.
A total of 1,689 beneficiaries received assistance, including 1,285 residents from Tabogon and 404 from Borbon.
The recipients were families whose houses were totally damaged by the earthquake that struck Cebu in September 2025.
Each household beneficiary received P10,000 in cash assistance and 10 kilograms of rice from the Provincial Government.
In her message, Gov. Baricuatro emphasized the importance of staying connected with the people and personally attending to their needs.
“Mas malipay gyud ko nga naa kos probinsya. Makighimamat ninyo — mao gyud na akong kalipay sa tinuod lang. And that is the best part of being governor nga naa koy tsansa nga makastorya ta, makakita ko ninyo, maka-meet ko ninyo, maka gunit ko ninyo,” the governor said.
Gov. Baricuatro also reiterated her commitment to prioritize public service and development initiatives for Cebuanos over political interest.
“For now, dili sa ko gusto magpolitika kay para nako, trabaho sa ta sa atong administrasyon. So mao na nga atong atimanon karon, sa Cebu lang – atong panaghiusa, atong paglambo diri sa Cebu,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
Aside from the calamity assistance, farmers from Tabogon and Borbon also received agricultural support from the Provincial Government, including 10 carabaos with plows and 20 goats for each municipality, as well as fertilizers, vegetable seeds, calamansi seedlings, and other farm inputs.
Meanwhile, fisherfolk beneficiaries from Tabuelan received Amazon net screens to support their livelihood.
The distribution was facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Provincial Treasurer’s Office. Also present during the activity were Board Members Nelson Mondigo and Mike Villamor, along with Borbon Mayor Nico Dotillos and some Tabogon municipal officials.
