Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan commended the nursing team of Juan B. Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod for their swift response and professionalism in assisting a woman who unexpectedly went into labor while traveling on a bus on Wednesday.
Dr. Catalan said the nurses immediately responded after receiving a call for assistance, enabling them to safely deliver the baby, provide essential care to both mother and newborn, and transport them to the hospital for further monitoring.
“Their quick response, competence, and dedication to service ensured the safety and well-being of both mother and child,” Dr. Catalan said.
Lauded for their efforts were nurses Marjorie Joe A. Casinillo, John Paolo D. De Dios, and Lou Dominic De Dios.
According to Dr. Catalan, the incident highlights the commitment of healthcare workers to serve beyond hospital walls, saying that frontline medical personnel remain ready to respond whenever and wherever emergencies arise.

It also proved the importance of district hospitals having adequate and well-trained medical personnel, upgraded facilities, modern equipment, and ambulances that can be deployed during emergencies.
Under the administration of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, the province’s 16 Capitol-run hospitals have been undergoing improvements and reforms aimed at enhancing the delivery of healthcare services.
