To strengthen science and technology education in the province, the Cebu Provincial Government donated P8 million worth of robotics kits to seven science high schools in Cebu.

The package includes Spike Prime, AISteam, and Matrix Robotics kits that will help students develop robotics, programming, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning.

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro led the turnover of the robotics kits to Deped educators and students during a Robotics Training Program held at the Applied Nutrition Center on June 2, 2026.

“I’ve always believed that if we want Cebu to move forward, we must embrace innovation and continuously enhance the skills of our young people as well as our teachers. That is why when I learned about the opportunity to support this robotics program through the Provincial School Board, I had no hesitation. I believe that you deserve access to these robotics equipment and to learning opportunities that will help unlock your full potential,” Governor Baricuatro said.

The recipient schools were Badian National High School, Bantayan Science High School, Buanoy National High School, Compostela Science and Technology High School, Medellin National Science and Technology High School, Minglanilla Science High School, and San Remigio National High School.

Dr. Pamela Rodemio, Chief of the Schools Governance and Operations Division of Deped Cebu Province, expressed gratitude to the Provincial Government for making the program possible, noting that the donation would help bridge the gap between public and private schools in robotics education.

“We are very grateful to the Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Pam Baricuatro. For the first time, our public schools have the opportunity to have this robotics kit which is very expensive – the Deped cannot provide it,” Rodemio said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Josephine S. Dela Torre, Education Program Supervisor for Science of DepEd Cebu Province, said the kits would significantly enhance the schools’ ability to participate in robotics competitions at higher levels.

“We’re very lucky that we received these kits from the provincial government. With these kits, they’re expected to join national and international robotics competitions. Happy kaayo mi kay it’s very expensive and our schools cannot afford even our division cannot provide funds for this,,” Dela Torre said.
