Under the administration of Governor Pam Baricuatro, the historic Cebu Provincial Capitol opened its grounds for the first time to Muslim brothers and sisters for the observance of Eid Al-Adha, marking another milestone in the provincial government’s push for inclusivity and cultural representation.
The gathering also signals broader efforts by the Capitol to strengthen engagement with Muslim communities, with plans underway to establish a local Muslim Affairs Office that will cater to the needs and concerns of Muslims across Cebu Province.

The prayer gathering transformed the Cebu Provincial Capitol — a National Historical Landmark declared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines — into a place of worship and reflection as members of the Muslim community marked the Feast of Sacrifice, one of Islam’s holiest occasions.

Arlene Sanoh-Salahuddin, president of Salaam Police Cebu Province and consultant-spokesperson of the Salaam Police Advocacy Group Region 7, disclosed that the Capitol is also preparing to establish a local Muslim Affairs Office to address the needs and concerns of Muslims in the province.
The first Eid Al-Adha prayer held at the Capitol grounds marked a significant moment for Cebu’s Muslim community, turning one of the province’s most historic sites into a shared space for faith, unity, and inclusion.
