In just over 10 months under the administration of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, major upgrades have been carried out across the Capitol’s four provincial and 12 district hospitals as part of efforts to improve healthcare accessibility, modernize facilities and enhance medical services in Cebu province.
Among the hospitals benefiting from these improvements is Cebu Provincial Hospital-Balamban (CPH-Balamban) in midwest Cebu, which was recently visited by Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan on May 15 to inspect its services and ongoing developments.
During her visit, Dr. Catalan inspected the ongoing P12.7-million infrastructure renovation. She also evaluated medical equipment and toured various hospital departments to identify areas for further improvement.
One of the developments that particularly caught her attention was the progress of the hospital’s Radiology Department, which continues to expand its capability to provide diagnostic services to patients.
Dr. Catalan said she was pleased to see the hospital steadily widening the range of services available to the public.
CPH-Balamban currently offers ultrasound, ECG, X-ray, and CT scan services, while the installation of a new mammogram machine is ongoing. To further strengthen operations, the hospital recently added nine radiologic technologists.
While acknowledging that more work still needs to be done, Dr. Catalan said significant improvements had already been achieved in less than a year under Gov. Baricuatro’s administration, particularly in expanding radiology services and enhancing patient care.
Dr. Catalan also visited the newly completed Out-Patient Department (OPD) building and assessed its role in helping decongest the main hospital once outpatient services are transferred there.
According to the Capitol health consultant, the facility is expected to improve hospital operations and provide more efficient healthcare services to patients from Balamban and neighboring towns. | CAPITOL PIO
