Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro has reaffirmed her commitment to facilitate the transfer of ownership of a Capitol-owned property in Cebu City to the Philippine National Police (PNP), a move expected to pave the way for the construction of a new Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 (CIDG-7) facility and strengthen law enforcement infrastructure in the province.

The commitment was reiterated during a courtesy call by newly assigned Police Colonel Arbel Castro Mercullo, Regional Chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 (CIDG-7), at the Cebu Provincial Capitol on May 26.
The meeting also served as a follow-up discussion on documents related to the CIDG-7 lot, reflecting the continuing coordination between the Cebu Provincial Government and law enforcement agencies.

The lot along Gorordo Avenue in Cebu City, which currently houses the CIDG-7 building, had earlier been donated to the PNP during the administration of former Governor Hilario Davide III.
However, plans to construct a new facility on the site stalled after questions on the property’s ownership surfaced during the previous administration, which later initiated efforts to recover the 679-square-meter lot.

Governor Baricuatro stressed the importance of supporting agencies such as CIDG-7 as part of the province’s broader efforts to strengthen peace, order, and public safety across Cebu. She said institutional support for law enforcement agencies helps ensure that personnel tasked with protecting communities are equipped to effectively carry out their mandate. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑭𝑬, 𝑨𝑹𝑱
