Continuing the effort to update barangay captains on projects that they could request the Capitol for funding, Cebu Provincial Government personnel dropped by the City of Bogo and Santa Fe town to orient them on the “Guidelines in the Disbursement and Utilization of Financial Assistance to Barangays”.

Last Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Mayor Maria Cielo “Mayel” Martinez welcomed the presence of the staff members from the offices of Governor Pamela Baricuatro; Vice Governor Glenn Soco; and Provincial Board Members Kerrie Keane G. Shimura and Nelson J. Mondigo of the 4th district of Cebu, who were ably assisted by personnel from the Provincial Planning and Development Office.

“Teamwork makes the dreams work,” Mayor Martinez said, as she identified infrastructure projects in response to the September 30, 2025 earthquake in northern Cebu as foremost in her mind, during the orientation, which was attended by 50 barangay officers, including 28 of the city’s 29 barangay captains.
In Santa Fe, Wednesday, May 20, Mayor Ithamar P. Espinosa likewise welcomed the group, who gave a briefing to 30 barangay captains, treasurers, and secretaries of the 10 barangays of the town.

Based on the guidelines, Cebu barangays could avail of funding for their infrastructure projects, particularly road concreting with drainage; industrial fan; solar lighting; and constructions of a multipurpose building/gyms, a multipurpose building/People’s Hall; a day care center; a GAD/SK/Senior citizen building; People’s Stage and other improvements; a People’s Health Station; a foot bridge; and the People’s Agri market with storage facility.

Aside from these, they could also request for the funding of socio-cultural events and related items, particularly fiestas or festival activities; procurement of multi-purpose tents, monobloc tables and chairs; and procurement of sports gears and equipment.
The barangays could likewise request the Office of the Governor, through a barangay resolution, for a barangay water system requiring a budget of up to P200,000. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
