The Cebu Provincial Government has intensified efforts to address cancer cases in the province through expanded partnerships focused on prevention, early detection, and patient support.

Capitol health officials led by Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan held follow-up discussions and cancer care planning sessions on Friday with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center as part of ongoing initiatives to improve cancer care services for Cebuanos.

The discussions centered on strengthening cancer prevention programs, early screening and detection, access to treatment, patient navigation, and community-based support systems for Cebuanos.

Cancer remains the second leading cause of death among Filipinos, describing it as a growing public health concern that requires sustained collaboration and intervention.

Dr. Catalan said the province continues to work on programs aimed at easing the burden on families affected by cancer and ensuring wider access to healthcare services.

“These are not just meetings. These are ongoing plans and collaborations because we know many families are struggling silently with cancer. We are doing something about it,” she said.
