After 15 years of inactivity, the reopening of Mainit Port in the Municipality of Oslob is expected to improve inter-island connectivity, support tourism growth, and enhance the movement of passengers and goods in southern Cebu, strengthening links between Cebu and Siquijor and Dumaguete City.

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro joined officials of Asian Marine Transport Corp. (AMTC, led by CEO Paul Rodriguez, during the port’s inauguration on Friday, May 22. The reopening marks the return of sea transport operations at the facility, which had remained unused for more than a decade.

“I’m especially happy because this helps strengthen tourism in southern Cebu, particularly Oslob, which continues to attract visitors from around the world,” Gov. Baricuatro said during the short program.
“Of course, when tourism grows, livelihoods also grow — from our small businesses and transport sector, to the food industry and local communities,” she added.

Also present during the event were Oslob Mayor Ronald Guaren, Second District Congressman Edsel Galeos, and Cebu Port Authority General Manager Francisco Comendador III, underscoring the collaboration among local and national stakeholders in expanding transport infrastructure and economic opportunities in the province.
AMTC’s Super Shuttle Ferry will initially operate daily trips between Oslob and Siquijor, with departures from Siquijor at 8:00 a.m. and from Oslob at 1:00 p.m. | CAPITOL PIO
