𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The spirit of sportsmanship continues to thrive as Danao city, through its Sports Development Office, officially opened the 1st Mayor’s Cup Shooting Competition 2026 on Friday, May 22, at the Danao Gun Club and Shooting Range in Brgy. Sabang as part of the ongoing Danao City Mayor’s Cup.
Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro graced the opening ceremony and joined the ceremonial shooting to formally open the competition.
“Events like these bring people together outside of the usual meetings and formal work. It is good to see camaraderie, discipline, teamwork, and of course, healthy competition. I’m also happy to see Danao continue to host activities that promote sportsmanship and responsible gun ownership,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
The International Practical Shooting Confederation / Philippine Practical Shooting Association (IPSC/PPSA) Level 1 Sanctioned Match gathers licensed firearm owners from various sectors in a showcase of discipline, precision, and excellence in marksmanship through five challenging stages composed of two long courses and three medium courses with a minimum of 150 rounds.
Open to all licensed gun owners with permit to carry, the event includes Pistol-Caliber Carbine (PCC) and Handgun categories with individual awards for Civilian and Lawman divisions, as well as team awards for five-man officer-led teams with a lady shooter.
