Cebu Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro on Wednesday formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) for the Province of Cebu’s participation in the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2026 in Nanning, China.

The ceremonial MOA signing marks Cebu’s official participation as a designated “Province of Charm” for the international exposition.
CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo expressed their excitement in the Philippines’ participation this year to the CAEXPO, especially with Cebu leading the country.
Pulido-Ocampo stressed on Cebu being the perfect and ideal representation of the country with its diversiveness and rich culture.

The partnership aims to strengthen Cebu’s trade, tourism, investment promotion, and international cooperation efforts through participation in one of the region’s largest economic and cultural platforms.
In her message of support, Gov. Baricuatro expressed gratitude to CITEM and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the opportunity to showcase Cebu on the global stage.
“We are truly honored that Cebu has been designated as a ‘Province of Charm’ for CAEXPO 2026. Beyond our beautiful destinations and thriving industries, the true charm of Cebu has always been our people,” Gov. Baricuatro said.

“After all, how can Cebu not be called a ‘Province of Charm’ when it is filled with charming people? The genuine warmth and hospitality of every Cebuano remain our greatest pride and our greatest strength,” she added.
The Governor also emphasized that the collaboration will help open more opportunities for Cebuano businesses particularly MSMEs, tourism stakeholders, and local producers while strengthening Cebu’s position as a globally competitive province.
Joining Gov. Baricuatro during the ceremonial signing were Provincial Board Member Malcolm A. Sanchez, sponsor of Resolution No. 1633-2026 and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations; Provincial Board Member Lakambini “Neneth” Reluya, Chairperson of the Committee on Trade and Industry; and Provincial Tourism Officer Rowena Montecillo.
Through Resolution No. 1633-2026 authored by Board Member Sanchez, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan authorized Gov. Baricuatro to sign the agreement on behalf of the Province of Cebu.
Under the partnership, Cebu is expected to participate in various components of CAEXPO 2026, including tourism promotion, investment presentations, cultural showcases, and exhibitor participation featuring Cebuano products and services.
CAEXPO 2026 will be held in Nanning, China from September 17 to 21, 2026, with the Philippines serving as the Country of Honor.I CAPITOL PIO with reports from Riza Mae L. Pasilan | CNU Interns
