𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐄𝐕 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈-𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐒
Operators shared their thoughts on the introduction of electric vehicles (EV)to public transport in Cebu, during a public consultation organized by the Provincial Planning Development Office with “Get Philipppines, Inc.” on Monday and Tuesday, May 18-19, 2026, at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.
Among the concerns raised by the operators, who are transport cooperative officers, including the leaders of the “Federation of Cebu Transport Cooperatives” (FCTC), was the “developmental route” being identified competing with the existing routes, thus negatively impacting their livelihood.
They were assured though, that it would not be the case, and it was agreed that with two EV units to be provided for each operator under the program, FCTC committed to accept at least 30 units for 15 operators.
The activity was part of efforts of the Capitol led by Governor Pamela Baricuatro to introduce a more sustainable means of public transportation in the province, especially with the fuel supply crisis being experienced by the country as a result of the ongoing US-Iran conflict. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
