𝐏𝟏𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐔 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒
𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Cebu Provincial Government distributed P10,000 calamity assistance to 1,394 residents from the municipalities of Medellin and Daanbantayan on Wednesday, May 20, at the Medellin Sports Complex.
Of the total beneficiaries, 1,092 are from Medellin while 302 are from Daanbantayan. The recipients were among those severely affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Northern Cebu in September 2025.
Aside from the financial assistance, each beneficiary also received 10 kilos of rice from the national government.
In her message, Governor Pamela Baricuatro emphasized the importance of prioritizing public service and the welfare of the Cebuano people over politics.
“Ang akong gusto naa koy mahatag ninyo. Kay og mag tuga-tuga ko og apil ana ilang mga politikanhon karon, wala jud koy mahatag ninyo. Wala say politika run mao nang akong giingon colorless ko kay di ko ganahan maapila’g politika ang akong trabaho,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
Joining Gov. Baricuatro during the distribution were Medellin Mayor Edwin Salimbangon, Daanbantayan Mayor Gilbert Arrabis, Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora, and Board Member Nelson Mondigo.
The distribution marks the first set of calamity assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government. Another round of aid distribution is scheduled on May 21 in the municipality of San Remigio. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
