Continuing the commitment to orient barangays on the services they could avail at the Office of the Governor, Cebu Provincial Government personnel visited Danao City and the towns of Compostela and Sibonga the past two days to brief their village officials and address their concerns.

Staff members from the Office of the Governor and the Provincial Planning and Development Office met the member-barangay captains of the respective Association of Barangays Councils of the three local government units so they would familiarize themselves on the “Guidelines in the Disbursement and Utilization of Financial Assistance to Barangays”.

During the session in Danao City last Wednesday, May 13, 2026, a total of 143 participants took part in the orientation, including 38 of the city’s 42 barangay captains. On the same day, in neighboring Compostela town, all 17 barangay captains joined the briefing, along with 30 barangay secretaries and treasurers.
The next day, May 14, a total of 38 barangay officials of Sibonga town, including 25 barangay captains, joined the orientation, where their questions were answered and their concerns were clarified.

As stipulated in the guidelines, the barangays could seek funding from the Capitol for their infrastructure projects, including but not limited to road concreting with drainage; solar lighting; construction of multipurpose building/gyms, a multipurpose building/People’s Hall, a day care center, a GAD/SK/Senior citizen building.
They could also have request for the “People’s Stage” and other improvements; a People’s Health Station; a foot bridge; and the People’s Agri market with storage facility.
Aside from these, they could likewise request to have their socio-cultural events funded, particularly fiestas or festival activities; the procurement of multi-purpose tents, monobloc tables and chairs; and sports gears and equipment.
The barangays, through a resolution, could also ask for a water system, as long as the required budget is P200,000 or less.
The orientation was part of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro’s promise that under her administration, no one would be left behind, by having the Provincial Government really visit and engage with the barangays.
Staff from the Office of the Governor and of PPDO would continue conducting the orientation until such time that all barangay captains are equipped with the right knowledge and know-how regarding the specific requirements of their specific needs. 𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
