When she assumed office on June 30, 2025, Gov. Pamela Baricuatro wasted no time in buckling down to work to fulfill her promise of giving the province’s ailing healthcare system a much-needed shot in the arm.
Within a few months after Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan conducted an ocular inspection of all 16 Capitol-run hospitals, the delivery room of Barili District Hospital, one of its crucial facilities, was renovated from its dilapidated state to provide safer care and greater comfort for mothers and newborns.
Completed in October 2025, the renovation of the delivery room in Barili was just one of several upgrades that began last year and continue today in provincial and district hospitals.
While infrastructure upgrades and the modernization of hospital equipment take time, there is no denying that healthcare services in Capitol-run hospitals are now significantly better than what Gov. Baricuatro found when she assumed office a year ago.
