𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: As government agencies, local government units, and civil society organizations continue to assess the economic impact of the Middle East crisis in Central Visayas, Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro called for concrete measures to protect Cebuanos from the effects of rising inflation.
The governor made the call during the online Central Visayas Economic Outlook Briefing 2026: Macroeconomic Performance, Inflation Dynamics, Emerging Local and Global Risks, and Strategic Imperatives organized by the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev)-Central Visayas on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Gov. Baricuatro pointed out the need to look beyond economic figures and focus on how inflation directly affects the daily lives of people
“We must look beyond the raw percentages of our Gross Regional Domestic Product and the fluctuations in our inflation rates and employment performance to understand the “pulse” of our economy – what accelerated us, what hindered us in 2025, and what the persistent inflation of early 2026 is truly telling us about the lives of our constituents,” the governor said. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑨𝑹𝑱
