The National Organizing Committee (NOC) honored local government units, partner agencies, and stakeholders behind the successful hosting of the 48th ASEAN Summit events in Cebu during an Appreciation Event held Saturday, May 9, at the Shangri-La Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City.

The gathering recognized the collective efforts of agencies, security forces, organizers, and local leaders who worked closely to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the ASEAN-related meetings in Cebu.
During the event, ASEAN 2026 Director-General for Operations Undersecretary Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega and NOC representative Undersecretary Leonardo Roy A. Cervantes expressed their gratitude to all participating LGUs and agencies, particularly Cebu Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro, who served as Chairman of the Cebu Organizing Committee.

Both officials commended the Province of Cebu and its partner agencies for their extensive coordination and support that contributed to the successful staging of the international event.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also delivered a recorded video message, thanking everyone involved in the ASEAN preparations and operations, including national government agencies, security and law enforcement units, LGUs, and volunteers.

The President particularly acknowledged Governor Baricuatro and the Cebu Organizing Committee for their efforts in helping deliver a successful summit despite challenges and last-minute adjustments, including the decision to condense activities into two days to limit expenses amid prevailing crises.
In her message, Governor Baricuatro expressed her gratitude to President Marcos for giving Cebu the opportunity to host key events of the ASEAN Summit.
“First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., for giving Cebu the opportunity and honor of hosting key events of the 48th ASEAN Summit. This is truly a proud moment not only for Cebu, but for the entire country,” Baricuatro said.

The governor also thanked First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for her hands-on support and trust throughout the preparations.
“As Chairman of the Cebu Organizing Committee, I witnessed firsthand the countless coordination meetings, endless reports, sleepless nights, and tireless work done round the clock by our agencies, LGUs, security forces, volunteers, creatives, technical teams, and organizers,” she said.
“Behind every successful event are people who quietly and selflessly worked to make everything happen.”
Baricuatro also congratulated the National Organizing Committee led by Ambassador Hellen and Deputy Director-General Potenciano Camba for what she described as “a job well done.”
She likewise thanked Cebuanos for their patience, cooperation, and hospitality during the summit preparations and activities.
“This summit showed the world not only the beauty of Cebu, but also the creativity, resilience, professionalism, and hospitality of the Filipino people,” the governor added.
“More than just a successful event, this was a shared achievement for Cebu and for the entire nation.”
