Personnel from the Office of the Governor and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) conducted on Thursday, May 7, 2026, separate orientations for the barangay captains of Oslob and Argao towns on a checklist of financial assistance available for their constituents.

The objective of the activity is to brief members of the respective Association of Barangays Councils in the province to be briefed on the “Guidelines in the Disbursement and Utilization of Financial Assistance to Barangays”.

In a message, Mayor Ronald Guaren thanked Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro for really finding time for the Capitol to give the orientation about the guidelines, which has different requirements for every type of service in the checklist.
Argao Mayor Allan M. Sesaldo, on the other hand, expressed elation over the orientation, as it means more government projects for the barangays of his town.

Second District Provincial Board (PB) Members Raymond Calderon and Stanley Caminero, who were also present during the activity, likewise gave reminders to their constituent barangay officials.
In particular, PB Member Calderon encouraged all 21 barangay captains of Oslob and Argao’s 45 to avail of the opportunity and comply in submitting all requirements.

PB Member Caminero, on the other hand, reminded that while funds are available, they must be utilized before the year ends, which is why the barangay captains should make their requests a soon as possible.
Based on the guidelines, Cebu barangays could avail of funding for their infrastructure projects, particularly road concreting with drainage; industrial fan; solar lighting; and constructions of a multipurpose building/gyms, a multipurpose building/People’s Hall; a day care center; a GAD/SK/Senior citizen building; People’s Stage and other improvements; a People’s Health Station; a foot bridge; and the People’s Agri market with storage facility.
Aside from these, they could also request for the funding of socio-cultural events and related items, particularly fiestas or festival activities; procurement of multi-purpose tents, monobloc tables and chairs; and procurement of sports gears and equipment.
The barangays could likewise request the Office of the Governor, through a barangay resolution, for a barangay water system requiring a budget of up to P200,000.
The orientation is part of the governor’s promise that no one would be left behind, by having the Provincial Government really visit and engage with the barangays. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
